Question 7 Evaluation looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Doing the preliminary task feels like a life time away, to think that was the first time that i had uses a camera like that properly. I believe that if i had never done the preliminary task i would have most definitely lacked confidence in the making of our film. Thinking about it now i didn't really think how important it was. It was the start of a great year for me when we took out the camera from then on it was in our hands. Without it i wouldn't have the knowledge that i do now and i don't think i would have stood a chance of making an opening like we did.

For our preliminary task we were asked to film a short piece that had a conversation, match on action, 180 degree rule and shot revers shot. We had to show someone entering trough a door using one of the shot techniques. We had to story board this and then edit it, this gave us a great opportunity to use the equipment. For our main task we were asked to shot the first two to three minutes of a film opening that we had to make up within our group. We had to make up everything the story board the effects and the sounds. The only rules they gave us was that it had to be within the time limit and had to be sensible so no stupid stunts. Our group were very close from the start and when we first begging to think of idea we didn't have a lot of them. We struggled at the begging of this process. All of our ideas come from Micheal's voice over really, he was just messing around with some words and made a great voice over that we use in our opening scene. When he read it to me that's when all of our ideas suddenly kicked in. We began to feel like film makers, we were literally entranced with the idea of making an opening for a film. When i think about it, when i heard our teacher talking about making an opening for a film i thought it would be impossible, i didn't think we would be able to do it and actually at some points near to the end of our editing i thought we were going to loss everything but i think this feeling makes you stronger because we over came it and made a great opening for a film. From the filming of our preliminary task to the opening of our film i feel that i have gained an awful lot of confidence in the use of the camera, editing and working in a group. I have learnt so much and still hope to learn more.

So overall i feel that i have learnt so much in the use media, from the use of the apple mac computer to the most simplest things like how to use a tripod or work the camera. It has taught me lots of different shot types like....
180 Degree Rule
The 180 degree rule is a basic guideline in film making that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left to right relationship to each other.
Match On Action
A match on action is a technique used in filming and editing, it is a cut that connects two different views of the same action at the same moment in the movement.
Shot Reverse Shot
Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character.

I am so proud of our group and i feel really honored to be able to say i was a part of this group and i wouldn't change the people i worked with for anything, if though we had our differences but most groups do and you get thought it, its what makes you stronger and we were strong enough to in the end create a brilliant film. opening. Like anything it could always be improved and i think if we had the time again i would have like to worked on garage band and create our own piece of music but we didn't have the time. All in all i am very happy with our final piece and sad now that it is all over but i have had a great time and really pleased i had this opportunity.

Question 6 Evaluation What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Throughout my project i have attained many new skill that i will be able to use in the near future. The first and i think most important was leaning how to to the apple mac computers. I had never used one before and had no idea what to do, being in media it has given me the understanding of how to use things like the mac computer and also websites like blogger and i movie hd. I movie hd and blogger are two very important sites that without them we wouldn't have stood a chance of making a successful film opening. We also used websites like Google, YouTube and IMDB. These websites gave our group the information we need and we did a lot of research into the film industry on IMDB and Google, they were a great help to us. YouTube was also very helpful because we could look at other films openings and see what they were like. I have learnt a lot of new skill and have found it really enjoyable learning new things which i am usually not very good at doing.

In this picture it is Maddie and i with our camera and tripod and our apple mac computer with our film on the screen. I think that our group has done a great job of making this film opening even though we had a lot of difficulties along the way but it is good for a group to have problems because it then show how well you work together to get out of the trouble you have been put into. Our group worked extremely well together and faced the problems head on together, we didn't let anyone in our group fall of let them down. This is one of the most important things about working in a group, you have to work together otherwise it wont work.

Question 5 Evaluation How did you attract/address your audience?

In our film we have included the themes of death, transformation, loneliness, victim, villains and most important vampires. They are the main cause of this film and are slowly trying to taking over the world, so our main antagonist are in trouble because they are slowly creating an army to get rid of the human race. I believe we produced a great opening for our film and it left the viewers wanting more, they became entranced with our film forgetting everything around. We had to stick to our conventions other wise this wouldn't have been a horror/thriller and it would have all been for nothing if we changed it. I believe that we couldn't have made this film fit into any other genre, it just wouldn't have been right. Our audience became captivated with the twilight world almost believing its real.

The picture on the left  is one of our main characters in our film looks like when i have been changed into a vampire. This is a very important shot because this now shows our main character change from a normal 18 year old girl into a creature of nightmare. This is a medium shot of me with red eyes, a bite mark on my neck and blood dripping from my mouth. The picture on the right is Bella Swan in the film Twilight where she also has red eyes and blood dripping from her mouth i thought it would be a good idea to show that we did stick on the lines of the film Twilight, we got our image from their main character and i think we did a pretty good job of making me look like a vampire. This is quite a frightening shot because if someone like that came towards me i wouldn't want to stick around for long, this is what we want the audience to feel, we don't want them to be comfortable about this character, although she was an innocent young girl she is now highly dangerous and would given the chance kill you. Both pictures are very alike, we both have dark hair, dark clothing and messy hair. This is very important to get right because we both look very threatening thanks to the mise-en- scene.

The picture on the left is of my eye, the most important scene because we now know that this young girl has changed and there this no going back for her. This is a brilliant close up of my red eye conveying to the audience that people that meet her will be in trouble. This shot is an extreme close and when this shot appears on the screen our film name comes along the bottom of my eye say "Judgment Of The People" the word "Judgment" connotes trouble ahead for the people in our film. The picture on the right is also Bella Swan from Twilight, this picture also shows the audience that Bella is no longer normal and it is the red eyes that do it just like the still shot from our film. This show that we have again stuck to our conventions and film selections.

The picture on the left is another one of are main character Andre with me laying in a laboratory. This is the final shot and part of our opening were we hear Andre say " We were right shes got the virus", this leaves the audience left in suspense and again wanting more from our film. This is a very important scene because we don't really know what he is going to do next with the world near to ending it is up to the work of Andre to save the day. This is a medium shot. The picture on the right is once again from the film Twilight with Dr Cullen in a hospitable/ laboratory examining a patient which links in with our closing scene.

So i think we did a really good job of making our films fit around the films of today. It should also be a big hit with our audience because Twilight is on of the most popular films of my generation. Our peer evaluations were very good and most of them said they wanted to watch the rest of the film. They said that the liked the way we made our characters up and the way we have edited our film it to make it look like they are moving faster and slower. They did say they would have maybe like a bit of music because we only used sounds effects but we did have a voice over that they really loved. We also stuck to our target audience of 18-25 i think that they would love it.

I think the most unique selling point of our film was the voice over that fit the film perfect using the name of our film in it and the uses of vampires, the voice over was made up by one of our group member just out of the blue. Another similaritie with Twilight they also have a voice over at the start of their film.  I also think that the costume of our vampire was very good because we didn't use any special effects on the ways i look but we did on they way i moved because it looked more real and more frighting when someone comes really quickly at the camera.

This link shows the opening of the film Twilight to show how they use a voice over just like we do.

Ouestion 4 Evaluation Who would be the audience for your media product?

Our target audience would be of the age range 18-25 older students and young adults because this is the average age range for our genre horror/thriller. Theses are the types of people that have the most time to watch films and are at the age were they are old enough to go and see them in the cinemas. We could also have a second target audience of 15-30 because this would then raise our audiences a lot but i think we were aiming to set our film as an 18.
The kind of audience we want to attract would be the kind of people who want to scare themselves, test their fears to there limits. The people who are a bit daring. We are aiming our film are older students and young adults so they will be into things like computers, gaming, the Internet and will most likely be up to date with all the latest technology. They must also be interested in the horror/thriller genre. They are up for anything and what to challenge their mind.

When you watch a horror/thriller all of your sense's come alive, you get that funny feeling in your stomach that you cant explain. This is your adrenalin pumping, it takes over your whole body and controls all of your emotions. This is what we want our film to do to our audience, we want to be the film that everyone is talking about, that know one can get out of their head, that drives them crazy.
As you can see by this pie chart the horror/thriller genre is the most popular closely followed by comedy. This is because lots of people want to test their fears. This shows that "Judgement Of The People" would fit in perfectly and would be very profitable. Our film is a genre crossover because our film is both horror and thriller. Our film is based on vampires and at this moment in time it is a very popular thing to do in this genre so it may be difficult to get our film out there with all the big films but our genre is in very high demand so it would most certainly get watched.

Question 3 Evaluation What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

"Judgement Of The People" is a low budget British film which would most likely start of by being shown at a film festival such as "Raindance" which is actual promotes independent films in the UK.If our film got bigger, more popular and had more money it could possible be show at such places like the odeon or film four. IT could also go global and go to places such as America where they have a great variety for young film makers.

"Raindance" was founded in 1992 by filmmakers, for filmmakers. In 1993 the "Raindance" Film Festival began. "Raindance" is dedicated to fostering and promoting independent film in the UK and around the world. Based in the heart of London Raindance combines "Raindance" Film Festival, Training Courses, the prestigious British Independent Film Awards.and "Raindance" TV. I believe that this film festival would be perfect for the showing of our film when first released, it would give it a good chance for people to see our work.

Our film was based on two of the modern day films that most teenagers and young adults would have heard of "28 Days Later"and "The Twilight Saga" which at this moment in time have made 3 films and are currently working on there forth. Both of theses movies inspired us, we took the idea of using the same genre as "28 Days Later" and our story line is along the same line but we also used the theme of vampires as "The Twilight Saga" have done and have proven that it is very popular, so we thought it would be a good idea to put these ideas together and make a film. Our film would appeal to a mass market at this time.

I have done some research into my chosen genre horror/thriller and there are many films on at the odeon that are already out and currently waiting to be released.Odeon cinemas was created in 1928 by Oscar Deutsch. It has been claimed that the name of the cinemas was taken from a motto he had "Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation. The fact that there are several horror/thrillers coming out now indicates that our film genre is very popular high in demand, and will be watched. This means that our film would fit in nicely and would be a big hit from the audience.

There is also a film festival called "Sundance" it is a film festival that takes place annually in the state of Utah in the United States. It is the largest independent cinema festival in the United States. Held in January in Park City, Salt Lake City and Ogden, as well as the Sundance Resort, the festival is the premier showcase for new work for independent filmmakers. This would also be another place were our film could be shown, it is a great way for young film makers like myself to get there film out to an audience and get some good feedback. The only problem with the "Sundance" festival is that it is in America, so in my circumstance i think the the "Raindance" festival would be a better choice but if it did go global America would be the best place to get our film up and running.

DNA is also a British film company that produced "28 Days Later", one of the films we decided to base our film on. This would also be a great company for our film if we got it bigger enough to help produce, develop and finalise our film.

Question 2 Evaluation how does your media product represent particular social groups?

I have decided to compare my character to Drew Barrymore's character to see the similarities. Both of our posture was very similar in the sense that we both have a mobile phone in this shot, we both stand in the same sort of way. Two things that are different about us is that Drew Barrymore is smiling and has the phone to her ear whereas i am showing a different emotion i look upset and have the phone in my hand.
We are also wearing similar clothing, not the same but on the same line, we are both wearing jumpers and they are similar colours. We also have the same camera shot we have a medium shot. Both pictures were taken inside a house but the lighting is very different. In the picture on the left the lighting is very dark and suggests a mood of dark and evil whereas on the right the lighting is very bright and creates a mood of happiness and joy. We also have different hairstyles, the picture on the right looks like a very old fashioned hairstyle and the on the left looks very modern also we have completely different colour hair i have dark brown and she has blond. Overall i think the elements of these two pictures represent how young girls on there own are very venerable and are always the subject of a horror film. This is one of the most iconic moments of a horror/thriller because you can be certain that there will always be a young girl left on her own, where she is then left as the subjects pray. Nearly every time the young girl of the film will be attacked, killed or taken away.

Both antagonists have a very similar mise-en-scene. They are both in a houses that look just like a normal everyday house where you are lead to believe nothing could go wrong but obviously this is not the case because we know that everything is about to go wrong for these two antagonists. Both shots are what appear to be in the livening room of the house, this is the cosiest place and most relaxed, this is where the family sit down together of an evening and just relax together. They also have white walls in the house, a very calming colour which also tricks that audience in to a sence of denial. This also plays on the venerability of antagonists. Both of us are similar age i am 18 and Drew Barrymore plays a 17 year old girl so this is the iconic age for a young victim of a horror and they are always female.

Question 1 Evaluation of our 9 still images. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forns and conventions of real media products ?

The Title Of The Film
We decided that we would call our film ' Judgement of the People', we made this decision based on the fact we wanted it to be short, sweet and eye catching. If your title is not appealing people may not be interested right from the start. 'Judgement of the People' is a very good name for our genre, horror/thriller because the name doesn't really mean anything and makes the audience think a lot in to it, it is also makes them feel a little bit weary and uncertain and this is the effect we wanted with our title. In our film our titles come up when the main character eye is red (shot 4) this is a great time for the titles to come up because it shows the audience that something is not quite right and it makes them feel uneasy.

Setting/Location
We had a perfect place for our location we went to a long driveway that looks very quite and mysterious. It was a great place to shoot our opening scene because this is what you would expect to see in this type of genre. We did have a few problems with our setting because we wanted to film in the dark but the cameras were not really good enough to do this, so on our scenery we had to make it look darker by adding in mist and fog and make it generally darker, as you can see in shots(5-6-7).

Costumes and Props
In our film we didn't have a lot of outgoing costumes or props but we had the essentials. Most of our characters we wearing normal everyday clothing to make it look like a normal day apart from one. The main character was the same person but we she her getting changed into a vampire and there she has darker and more threaten clothing to frighten the audience a bit, all of the other characters just look normal. We didn't have many props but we had what we need, we uses red contacts, fake blood and a car that you can see in shots(1-2-4-8).

Camerawork and EditingIn our opening scene we used lots of different camera shots and used different angles. Our first shot is a medium shot of the girl in the window, we used a lot of theses shots because we didn't need to have the whole body in the shot and especial on this one because it was shot from outside the window. Shot(1) We also used lots of close ups, the first being the bloody hand print on the window which creates a great dramatic moment and leaves the audience on edge. Shot (2). Shot 3 is a medium of me in the dark and you can see that something is not right. The next and most important close i believe is the close up of my eye, instantly we know that this is out of the ordinary and makes the readers feel uneasy shot (4). Shot 5 is an establishing shot of our location for our film. Shot 6 is also an establishing shot but it is also a long shot of three characters walking down the drive. Shot 7 is is a long shot of me and Andree. Shot 8 is a median shot of the two three boys putting me into a car. Shot 9 is also a median shot of Andre and me on a table.
 Title Font and Style
It took us a while to decided what type of title we wanted because we wanted it to look good and in the end i think the titles look good, we decided that we would have our titles in red to contrast the colour of the eye and the blood. It makes it like in with our film. Shots (4-5-6)

Story and How The Opening Sets It Up
Our story line was based on the horror genre. Our opening scene set the mood for our story, we see a young girl getting changed into a vampire and we see three young men trying to see what is wrong. This creates a great start for our film showing the audience that this is going to be a difficult time ahead for the three young men.

Genre and How The Opening Suggests It
Our film is of the genre horror. You can tell this straight away because in our opening scene we have creapy men, fake blood, red eyes and vampires. Theses are all typicly objects and people that you would expect to see in a horror film.
How The Characters Are Introduced
Each character is introduced in there own way, we open with the main character being normal and it looks like a normal night with her on her phone but the you see a dark figure and we know then that something in not right. He bites her then we see the main character change into something not quite right, we can tell this when we see the close up of her eye. The next characters we see our the three young men walking down the drive way and we know they are a bit suspicious because they all have there hoods up and walk really wary way. Shot (6).

Special Effects
We didn't use many special effects but we did use a few jump cuts to emphasise the fact that these people are not in the ordinary and make the audience believe it more.

Our 9 still images connotes to the audience a fragment of our film, it is a brief example of what our film is all about.
